the mission
Black Mural Map exists to document, preserve, and celebrate Black public art by increasing awareness of murals created by Black artists and murals that reflect Black history, culture, and representation. Through education, storytelling, and community engagement, we connect people with the artists and histories reflected on our public walls.
meet the project director
Kandice Clark is a Jacksonville native curator, creative placemaker, and founder of Black Mural Map. Her work spans public art, cultural storytelling, and community engagement, including the creation of The Petite Jax, a pop-up gallery showcasing local artists. In recognition of her contributions to Jacksonville's arts community, she received the Helen Lane Founders Award, honoring the impact of projects such as Black Mural Map and her broader efforts to expand access to the arts.
